Ependymoma of the brain is a tumor from the ependymal tissue of the ventricular system of the brain. It is clinically manifested primarily by signs of increased intracranial pressure, as well as ataxia, visual and hearing impairments, seizures, speech and swallowing disorders. Diagnostics is carried out mainly using MRI of the brain, spinal puncture, EEG, histological examination. The mainstay of treatment is radical removal of the ependymoma followed by radiation or chemotherapy. In adults, stereotactic radiosurgery is used.
