Volgograd, one of the most glorious cities in Russia, is located on the west bank of the Volga River, in its lower course. This city, one of the largest in the South of the country, has repeatedly changed its name and appearance throughout its history: pre-revolutionary Tsaritsyn went from a border military town to a major industrial center; Soviet Stalingrad went down in history as an indestructible stronghold of the human spirit; modern Volgograd, which is the administrative center of the Volgograd region, remains an important industrial and the scientific center of Russia. It is also called the port of the five seas, because the Volga-Don Canal connects the warm southern seas – the Black, Azov, Caspian – with the cold Baltic and Northern. Thanks to this, trade is developing intensively in the city and business life is booming.
