Colonoscopy is performed by an endoscopist in a specially equipped office. The patient undresses from the waist down and sits on the couch, bending his knees under him. Before the examination, anesthesia is performed with drugs based on Lidocaine, which are applied to the tip of the device, or under general anesthesia. Next, a probe is inserted into the anus, equipped with a small camera at the end. The probe is connected to the monitor screen and is backlit. The doctor gets the opportunity to assess the condition of the colon and see if there are any changes. The instrument is soft and easy to bend, providing delicate advancement along the anatomical structures of the intestine. Air is forced into the intestine so that it does not stick together. Thus, better access is provided for studying the state of the mucous membrane. After the end of the examination, the endoscope is removed.
