Astigmatism treatment in Russia
Astigmatism is a violation of refraction caused by an irregular, non-spherical shape of the cornea or lens, which leads to the scattering of light rays and the formation of a distorted image on the retina. Astigmatism over 1 diopters is manifested by visual impairment, fuzzy blurry vision of objects, headache, rapid fatigue with visual stress, and discomfort in the brow region. Diagnostics of astigmatism includes an ophthalmologist's consultation, visual acuity testing, refraction studies (skiascopy, refractometry), biomicroscopy, ophthalmometry, ophthalmoscopy, eye ultrasound, computer keratotopography. Treatment of astigmatism is carried out using spectacle and contact correction, laser correction using the LASIK technique, astigmotomy, phakic lens implantation.
