Underwater traction of the spine is a medical procedure during which the spinal column is stretched, the distance between the vertebrae increases, the pressure on the intervertebral discs decreases, and the pressure on the roots of the spinal cord is eliminated. Underwater traction is more gentle and effective than dry traction due to muscle relaxation in warm water and improvement of tissue blood circulation. However, the application of this technique has additional restrictions in the form of contraindications to water procedures and certain technical difficulties associated with immersion and leaving the pool.
