Nearsightedness (myopia) is an anomaly of the refractive power of the eye (refraction), characterized by focusing the image of objects not on the retina of the eye, but in front of it. With myopia, a person hardly distinguishes distant objects, but sees well near; there is visual fatigue, headache, impaired twilight vision, progressive deterioration in visual acuity. Diagnostics of myopia includes visometry, skiascopy, refractometry, ophthalmoscopy, biomicroscopy, eye ultrasound. With myopia, it is required to observe hygiene of vision, wearing glasses with diffusing lenses, contact lenses; surgical correction of myopia by surgical methods (lensectomy, phakic lens implantation, radial keratotomy, keratoplasty, collagenoplasty) or using laser surgery (LASIK, SUPER LASIK, LASEK, PRK, etc.).
