Tympanic bypass surgery in Russia
Tympanic bypass shunting - inserting an ear shunt into the tympanic membrane. It is indicated for pediatric patients suffering from chronic exudative otitis media. The purpose of the intervention is to drain the inflammatory fluid from the tympanic cavity into the external auditory canal. The technique prevents damage to the tympanic membrane and structures of the middle ear, contributes to the achievement of long-term remission, and ensures the preservation of hearing. Bypass grafting of the tympanic cavity is performed under endotracheal anesthesia in a hospital setting and lasts 10-15 minutes. As the patient grows, the shunts are replaced, and when the child reaches the age of 12, they are completely removed.
