Vitrectomy is a surgery that involves the complete or partial removal of the vitreous body. This method of treatment is indicated for tears or total retinal detachment, diabetic retinopathy, excess of the acoustic density of the vitreous body of 19 dB, traumatic injury or foreign body of the eyeball. For the operation, 3 micro-incisions are made and a special irrigation system is sewn together. After removal of the vitreous, a silicone tamponade with PFOS removal is required. Vitrectomy is completed with X-shaped vicryl suture. Visual functions after the intervention are gradually restored within 2-3 months.
