Facetectomy in Russia
Facetectomy is an operation during which the facet (intervertebral) joints are removed. With radicular syndrome, it is used as an independent surgical intervention to decompress the spinal root and spinal canal. In combination with laminectomy, it is used to expand access to structures that compress the spinal cord. Since the complete removal of the facet joints of the vertebra can lead to instability of the segment of the spinal column, a partial facetectomy is more often performed, which allows creating a fixed joint of the joints - arthrodesis.
