Center of Oriental Medicine

The State Autonomous Healthcare Institution "Republican Clinical Treatment and Rehabilitation Center "Center of Oriental Medicine" (COM) is the only state medical organization in the Russian Federation providing medical services based on the integration of knowledge of modern and traditional medicine, and having a hospital.

The main activities of the COM are:

The main advantage of our approach to the treatment of patients is the integrated use of traditional medicine tools and methods, natural healing factors (climatic and balneotherapy), as well as the achievements of modern medicine.

An integrated approach to the treatment of the patient makes it possible to effectively restore the impaired adaptation mechanisms and is mainly aimed at revealing the body's own reserve capabilities.

According to the results of the center's activities, it can be noted that the popularity of traditional Buryat medicine among the population is growing every year. So over the past five years, the number of patients who have applied has increased by an average of 80%. Patients of various profiles are successfully treated in COM hospitals. The effectiveness of treatment is noted on average in 95% of patients.

In recent years, there has been an increase in the number of patients from outside the Republic of Buryatia: residents of other regions of the Russian Federation account for up to 40% of the total number of treated patients; over the past three years, patients from 22 regions of the Russian Federation and several foreign countries (such as Switzerland, Austria, Germany, Mongolia, Belarus, etc.) have been treated.).

Scientific support of medical activities is provided by scientists from the St. Petersburg Chemical and Pharmaceutical Academy, the Buryat Scientific Center of the SB RAS and the Buryat State University. The Center of Oriental Medicine is one of the clinical bases of the Medical Faculty of the Buryat State University and the Department of Phytotherapy of the Irkutsk State Institute of Advanced Medical Training.

The staff of the Center defended 7 PhD works in the field of traditional medicine, published more than 100 scientific articles, several monographs.

Over the past years, the Center for Oriental Medicine has accumulated experience in international cooperation in the field of oriental medicine. International cooperation agreements were concluded in the field of scientific and practical experience exchange with the People's Republic of China and Mongolia. The Center's staff has repeatedly traveled to scientific seminars and conferences to exchange experience in the field of scientific research and research work with foreign colleagues (USA, Switzerland, Italy, Czechoslovakia, Mongolia, China, etc.).

The popularity and relevance of traditional Buryat medicine, the interest shown by Russian and foreign medical centers, research institutes in the activities of the Central Medical Center is confirmed by scientific and practical conferences of Russian and international importance held in the Republic of Buryatia. The Center of Oriental Medicine has held several scientific and practical conferences of national importance with international participation.

The center's staff, together with scientists from the Buryat Scientific Center of the Siberian Branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences, have developed and proposed several investment projects for implementation: "Organization of production of biologically active food additives", "Production of automated pulse diagnostic complexes", "Traditional medicine of Buryatia — the heritage of Russia".
